Despise WoW. Graphics look like that you'd see on a sega saturn..

Tacky,Rough and eye straining.
and i know it isnt.

and besides the uncalled nerfing of faved skills i dont see any reason why we should have races.

Ok, so that's a "yes". Leave it in your mind, buddy.

Yet, isn't that what we have been enjoying for 2 years now? A unique twist on some things that we've already seen in the genre.
QFT. Guild wars: Awesome 'cus it's against the norm.

However, if ANet *were* to allowed races, they would do so because of a very cool and interesting twist, like you said. It would be interesting to see race-specific professions, for one...

I'd just like to have body types in some form.
Choosing to be a monk and having no choice but to be a guy with no neck and a shaved head is okay at first, but I'd hope in a sequel they'd offer more choice on looks. hee hee

I was actually just thinking about that like 5 minutes ago. It would be pretty cool if they at least give a body option, I agree. Example: Be a warrior, but have the ranger model, perhaps? And oh man, if I could be a warrior with a necro body.../rerollwarrior.

I once made a N/W just to look like a necromancer, but play a warrior. Did not turn out so well.
Hopefully someday we can get that choice of looks.

I believe in Anet but they need more staff if they are gonna do something like this, did you see how much is blizzard staff? ..they are an army mate and after all that they delyed their expansion release date.

Anet can do much better in quality but HELL NO they don't have enough staff to make something like that and keep updating game, skill balance, bugs ..etc.

non-human chars would change GW feeling, we are all used to play humans... So it could be a little strange but I think it would be a GREAT change. Just imagine completely different towns (the charr villages), skills, charr professions, armours, etc. And dont forget there's a story in here and we fought the Charrs but they were misleded so... they arent that bad. Also maybe we could have some pvp Humans vs Charrs teams It's change but I think we could use a change, dont want more of the same... lets just wait. I dont believe they are going to allow non-humans chars but I would like to travel around with a Charr Shaman

I actually really don't know about that. Currently, there is quite a bit of imbalance towards classes in WoW. Hunters can excel at PvE and PvP, but they are never needed in instances or raids. A Warlock using his wand can out DPS a Shaman with an axe!

While Blizzard can afford to have so many workers, they'll still need to know what their doing. I think ANet is alright at this, even though both Bliz and 'Net have quite a lot of things to work on.

That would be pretty cool, but mounts are something GW will never have. My only wishes are that GW2 is more open-ended, "Go do what ya want" kind of gameplay. I hate being restricted to this storyline in Factions and Nightfall. Then prophecies also has its limits. If ya wanna get across the mountains, you cant just walk across, you gotta go ALL the way north and follow a path. Id also like a larger level cap. 20 is nice and all, but you get there in 3 days. Maybe 30-40 would be very good. Something where if you hit the level cap, you actually feel proud that you accomplished something. Also, maybe a Y-Axis. So you can jump over that pesky stuff that sometimes makes you walk around. Not really necessary, but it would be fun.

Level 30 would be at least 600HP, and level 40 would be near 1000HP. Way too much to be balanced. Plus that'd add more attribute points, causing attacks to do more damage and inflating HP and damage of monsters and fellow players.

No, we're fine as it is.

Well, the balance of the game would only be upset if each race has different skills. It would be cool, if they had all different starting places, a la WoW. It would add alot of new areas, with totally different enviroments.

I dont know if i'd keep playing if they added races. Races make up for new stats, which make up for job/race combination. THAT makes up for race discrimination. FFXI for example, ONLY pick a white mage thats a taru or never pick a taru warrior. That kind of thing. I'll be very pissed if my favorite race isnt with the "normal" job. I really hope they dont add races. PLEASE

Just to nitpick, it would be a 'Z' axis .

But as for new races, I could dig that for sure. It is a role playing game, I don't get where all this racism towards new ideas comes. And yes, I said racism. I don't quite get where people go all crazy thinking that ANet would for some reason give new races abilities that are above an beyond what humans have. Its (speculation at least) a new game, whats to say every race gets certain advantages and disadvantages, not related to class, but related to environment, something something or other. Or, they could just be new skins, new stories, new worlds, etc etc. I wouldn't mind one bit, even if it DID effect gameplay. These race haters are just like the profession haters. They don't want to try new things or even SEE new things, even if they don't understand and/or even try to look into the new.

In the end, if GW is even moving toward that phase full swing (I am quite sure they have already started planning, and good gaming company would), change is a good thing, and we shall see what changes there are.

There are currently too many MMO's for anet to compete. Vanguard just came out, The Lord of the Rings Online is coming soon, WoW is still popular as ever. That doesn't even touch some of the other MMO's that people still play, like EvE Online, Neocron, The Face of Mankind, Anarchy Online, City of Heroes, City of Villains, Everquest, Ultima Online, and Lineage II. What makes you think Anet can bring something new to the table, as well as do it as well as some of the competition. Even if Anet did a perfect job, how many people would play it?

Anet has been arguing for so long that races are bad, instanced zones are so good, no monthly fee is the best. And if this information is true, we will know Anet has given up. They decided they couldn't keep going with the current system of new chapters and free to play, and they had to submit to what other MMO's like WoW are doing.

I hope for all of us the news isn't the same, because IF a Guild Wars 2 comes out after 3 chapters and an expansion for Guild Wars 1, I definitely won't play it. Hell, if they go monthly fee there are too many other games I would want to pay for, that plenty of other people can recommend, rather than trying this out. Personally, the free to play kept me playing Guild Wars for a time. Lose that and I'm not all too interested in running around as a Char, I would rather run around as an elf or orc.

By the way, NCSoft is making plenty of other games too. Around when Guild Wars comes out, Aion will come out as well. http://ncsoft.com/eng/ncgames/aion_intro.asp
And rest assured there are many more MMO's coming out in the future, take Kaos War for instance.

There are too many MMO's in the market for Guild Wars to lose it's "unique approach"

Oh NOES! They might be adding new races! The sky is falling!!!!

You people really like to whip yourselves into a frenzy don't you? Even if the rumors about playable races were true, who says that they won't be purely cosmetic?

But hey, feel free to continue to panic over speculations that you yourselves perpetuated. Here, I'll add my own wild speculation: You have to buy an additional "expansion" for each race. Go wild on that people! I'll get the popcorn and watch.
